Black-footed ferret, mustela nigripes, part of the mustelids family.
They are endangered with only 300 to 400 wild ferrets.
Black-footed ferrets have a lifespan of 3 to 4 years.
They are found in shortgrass prairie, mixed-grass prairie, desert grassland, shrub steppe,
sagebrush steppe, mountain grassland, and semi-arid grassland.
Black-footed ferrets have long slender bodies with sharp claws,
which can help them crawl in and out of burrows.
They have also adapated to hunting at night.
Black-footed ferrets are carnivores and they hunt for mice and rats.
